STORMWATER MANAGER

Full-time 3 hours ago Full Job Description Job Description Responsible for planning, coordinating, and managing an environmental monitoring program involved in Stormwater quality for the City of Tahlequah ensuring the Citys compliance with all applicable federal, state and local environmental regulations.
Job Responsibilities Compliance Interprets and assures compliance with city ordinances, state, federal, Oklahoma Department of Environmental Quality regulations and related reports and permits requirements.
Enforces compliance with applicable federal, state and local Stormwater quality regulations and permits.
Directs compliance monitoring of industrial/commercial discharges and the assessment and collection of fees and fines.
Promotes voluntary compliance by commercial/industrial entities concerning pollutant and hazardous discharges to the sanitary sewer system and the storm sewer system.
Directs the investigation of illegal or problem waste entering the storm sewer systems and complaints of potable water distribution system problems, assuring appropriate corrective and/or enforcement actions.
Inspect construction sites for compliance with federal, state and local regulations and ordinances.
Compiles, analyzes and interprets data.
Education and Outreach Cooperates with federal and state agencies and other city departments regarding environmental concerns.
Provides environmental regulatory guidance to citizens and industrial/commercial entities.
Educates the public and citizens about the Clean Water Act, Stormwater, recycling, hazardous waste disposal and environmental issues.
Administration May respond to hazardous chemical releases.
Manages environmental audits and/or assessments.
Research and coordinate with City staff for grant funding opportunities related to Stormwater Management.
Reviews and approves plans for land disturbing activities and construction projects.
Interprets and assures industry compliance with federal, state, and local regulations and permits through an approved enforcement program.
Budget Management Monitors program budget and expenditures and assists Compliance Coordinator in the preparation of annual budget for the Stormwater Program.

Education and/or Experience Must possess a college degree from an accredited college or university in environmental sciences, natural sciences, or related field.
Education qualification can be met by demonstration of four or more years of increasingly responsible experience with storm water and/or floodplain management programs, ecosystems improvements, or equivalent education, training and experience.

The worker will be subject to:

Additional Information Certificates, Licenses, Registrations Must obtain an Oklahoma Erosion and Sediment Control Inspector certification within one year of employment.
Complete additional training and certification related to Stormwater management as needed.
Must possess a valid Oklahoma Class D Driver's License and maintain it throughout your employment.
Other Skills and Abilities Good people and mediation skills, as well as patience.
Must have skills in public speaking with the ability to present public education programs.
Other Qualifications Must successfully complete required drug testing and physical examination per City of Tahlequah's policies.
Have and maintain a driving record sufficient to satisfy the insurance mandates placed upon the city.
Establish employment eligibility under the US Department of Labor and the City of Tahlequah rules and policies.

Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
