Responsible for all aspects of the Head Start/Early Head Start Department Of Health and Human Services Program performance requirements including ongoing assessment of program activities, sound Early Childhood practices, classroom operations staffing and integration of all Head Start content areas.
Works as a team member to assist in obtaining program''s goals and objectives. Ensures classroom complies with applicable rules, regulations and guidelines. Maintain records and generates and submits reports. Assesses training needs and provides training for classroom staff. Performs site reviews of operations. Initiates purchase orders for needed supplies. Other duties may be assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Manages seven to ten subordinate supervisors who supervise a total of twelve to fifteen employees in the Early Childhood Unit. Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of this unit. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization''s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENT
Associate''s degree in Child Development, Liberal Arts or General Studies from two-year college or technical school; or three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. May include two years of more of undergraduate college course work.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT
An additional two years of experience working in some type of child-care environments is required. Head Start experience is preferred.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Must possess a valid driver''s license with a driving history verified through a motor vehicle report that meets requirements for Cherokee Nation underwriting rating. A negative TB test and a physical examination are required prior to employment. Must obtain proper automobile insurance coverage, appropriate commercial chauffeur''s license, Food Handler''s Card, CPR, Certification and First Aid Certification within three months of employment. Must possess or obtain within one year of employment a Child Development Associate Credential for Infant and Toddler Care givers or an equivalent credential.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Some knowledge of computers, training resources, basic clerical skills and adult learning styles.
